The club target day on Sunday 14th June will feature the Western rounds as the third round of our summer handicap competition. Usual Sunday times with set up at 12:30 PM. This event will be run as part of the club competition and archers can compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals based on handicap. This allows us to compare across bowstyles, age groups and gender. Your handicap result will depend on how you compare to your current outdoor handicap.
A Western round consists of 8 dozen arrows over two distances, with four dozen at each distance, and uses five-zone scoring on a 122cm target face. Archers can choose from the full range of Western rounds. These are New Western (100, 80 & 60yd), Long Western (80, 60 & 50yd), Western (60, 50 & 40yd), Western 50 (50, 40 & 30yd), Western 40 (40, 30 & 20yd) and the Western 30 (30, 20 & 10yd).
Scoring will be completed on paper, checked and signed by another archer on the line – ideally your partner on the same boss – and submitted to the records officer at the end of the round. You can use phone apps to score but only after entering your score on paper. If you do not wish to take part in the competition, you can still come along to shoot as you would any other day.
We look forward to seeing you there.
