Bowman and Red Feather awards, and Success for Beginners
In the first five months of 2023 we have had six Bowman Classification awards. The most recent award was this Wednesday when one of our senior gent recurve archers shot his third Western score to achieve Bowman 2nd Class. We also have a senior gent recurve archer achieving his Bowman 3rd Class, a senior gent and a senior lady achieving their barebow 3rd Class, a lady compound archer achieving her Bowman 1st Class and a senior gent longbow archer achieving Bowman 1st Class. This is a great start to the year and builds on the hard work undertaken by our archers. These are the new Archery GB outdoor classification awards. If you keep shooting rounds you will work your way through the various awards and make progress in the standard of your archery. Talk to a coach, a senior archer or the Records Officer for more information on classifications.
Congratulations also to our very junior archer who today achieved her WA Red Feather Award involving shooting accuracy, shooting stance and safety rules. A demanding assessment. Well done. You have achieved a badge that the majority of us can never get.
Finally, three of our new club members, having just completed their beginners’ course, achieved their 252 at 20 yards badges in their first two club target days. Wow!! – what an amazing way to start their archery career. Two barebow and one recurve gaining very respectable scores.
Well done, archers.
